I am by no means an accomplished carpenter or woodworker (in fact, I can count the number of wood projects I have done on one hand). But this project looked so useful and easy, I thought I'd give it a try. The plans actually came from a design by Dave Trott, which was published in the January, 1997 issue of Astronomy magazine. The only major difference I made was changing the 1"x3" tripod legs to 2"x2" legs. I cut the tops of the legs at a 60-degree angle for maximum stability. Probably a little overkill for such a small telescope, but better safe than sorry.

Note that the mount is basically a dobsonian design, modified slightly to accomodate a refractor. The dobsonian mount is then connected to a basic tripod. Furniture sliders are used on the two axes of motion to allow smoother movement. Friction holds the mount still when not being moved.
